The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund’s Snuggly Soirée
The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Benoiff Children’s Hospital is an amazing facility that is one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation. On March 22, 2018, the UCSF Medical Center Special Events held the annual Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund’s Snuggly Soirée. This year the event raised $270,000 which helps with financial costs that aren’t covered by insurance. Botanical Therapy was honored to support this event and donated variety 4-packs of our moisturizing and skin rejuvenating Vegan Lip Balms.
The UCSF Benoiff Children’s Hospital covers a variety of pediatric conditions such as: cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders, organ transplants, orthopedics and the care of critically ill newborns. It can be quite stressful for the patients and their families to be admitted to a hospital for any reason. The worries can mount with the financial impacts that seem to come from every direction. The funds raised from various events go towards those needs such as parking vouchers, meal tickets, special medication and housing to name a few.
The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund was founded by Dr. Richard Glogau and Dr. Pamela Baj in 2005 and has raised over $2 million. In addition to helping with unexpected costs, the hospital has the Child Life program which includes many services such as a school program for the patient and their siblings, play time, art therapy, book buddies, music and animal programs.
If you are interested in helping out a children’s hospital, check to see what areas they need the most assistance with. Some children’s hospitals, such as the Seattle Children’s Hospital offer a website that breaks down their needs to money, items and volunteer time.
